Touch Without an Agenda

•

Somatic movement and touch are simple and natural.
They’re not about “fixing” — they’re about feeling alive.

It can feel unfamiliar.

We’ve all been taught:

“If there’s a problem — fix it.”

So why touch or move if it doesn’t:

  • release tension,
  • remove pain,
  • shape the body,
  • give results?

Well — those things might happen.
But they’re not the goal.

Somatic movement and touch are a way to feel your tissues, your processes, your self —
as you are, not “after improvement.”

When you touch or move without the goal of changing yourself —
but simply to be with yourself —
you send a powerful message to your system:
“It’s safe here. You’re allowed to show up.”

And then?

What’s been tense begins to soften.
What’s frozen starts to thaw.
What’s been ignored begins to breathe again.

Circulation improves.
Oxygen reaches the cells.
The nervous system remembers how to feel.

For those focused on specific outcomes — weight loss, pain relief, progress — this may seem insufficient.

But it’s a different kind of work.

Somatics teaches us to relate to the body as subject — not object.
Not something to manage, perfect, or manipulate —
but a place to come home to.

When the body becomes a home,
so much tension fades.
So many “problems” stop needing to be solved.

And life — simply flows.
